Don’t Forget! Cottage Etiquette!

We share this small and beautiful lake with fellow cottagers and local residents, and want everyone who visits or stays here to enjoy all it has to offer.

1. Be friendly, courteous and patient with neighbours. They will recognize you as a visitor, and may approach you to get acquainted. Be patient with the slower pace of lake life and embrace the pleasure in it.

2. Understand that sound travels long distances over water. While you might enjoy an outdoor blast of rap music, country music or The 1812 Overture, your neighbours will not. Let nature be the soundtrack: the call of a loon, tapping of a woodpecker on a tree trunk, or slap of a beaver’s tail are nature’s music you will never hear in the city or suburbs. Also, consider the times of day at which you are creating any kind of noise, such as around the campfire in the evening.

3. Respect the environment as nature intended it. Keep harmful chemicals such as, shower gel and shampoo, and foreign objects like cans and bottles, out of the water. Be sure to gather and dispose of all garbage before leaving the cottage.
